What is MVP™?
Introduction to MVP™ Technology
KCI’s latest installment of the acclaimed MVP system is designed to fulfill every need of a law enforcement or public safety official. Ingeniously, the MVP combines high resolution video recording along with high quality audio tracks and transfers the recordings directly to a high capacity solid-state drive (SSD) enclosed in the unit. Using an Intel® core™ 2 duo 2.1GHz processor with 2GB RAM, the MVP can handle a multitude of tasks with ease. Video files can be uploaded by the administrator via a wireless network (or manually) to virtually any storage media. With the help of infrared technology, The MVP zero lux camera(s) capture vivid images in all nighttime situations. The industry’s best digital remote audio transmitter will capture audio tracks over 1000 feet away from the patrol vehicle.
The rechargeable audio transmitter includes an internal microphone and antenna so there is no need for external accessories. The MVP microphone system uniquely supports up to 2 remote audio transmitters that record simultaneously. The MVP can be used as a stand alone unit, integrated with a laptop computer via network cable, or operate as an integrated computer system with a monitor, keyboard and mouse. The stand alone system comes with a with high resolution touch-screen monitor with built-in speakers. The Mobile Video Patroller is a fully configurable computer which runs Windows® XP Professional. Just like your home PC, it can be used to operate various software applications such as mobile data terminal, mapping, word processing, etc. Also, many RADAR systems can be integrated with the MVP to show on-screen speeds.

The implementation of Solid-State technology puts the MVP at the forefront of Digital Video Systems in the industry. Solid state disks (SSDs) are considerably faster than regular disks (hard-drives or HDDs) because there is zero latency (there is no read/write head to move, NAND flash based technology). Aside from improving speed tremendously, SSD's are also sturdier than hard disks and offer greater protection in hostile environments. There is no noise, heat, or vibration generated from SSDs due to the lack of moving parts, which is crucial for operation inside of hot consoles. The life-span of our SSD drives MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) is between 1 and 2 million hours; up to approximately 170 years. Video files can be easily off-loaded onto removable media via USB (thumb drive, Removable Hard Drive). The MVP also has built in wireless for simple and secure transfer of video files to a central server or control station.
The Mobile Video Patroller also comes with 6 automatic triggers. Triggers are used to start video recording (activating overhead lights, siren etc.) or document actions (braking, shotgun/rifle removal etc.) and then overlay this data on the video files for advanced evidence capture. The MVP has very flexible user defined pre and post recording. The System Administrator can choose to record up to 60 minutes of Pre and Post recording to capture the suspect event well before, and after, the video recording is initiated.
